5.0 miles treadmill
56:21 minutes

5:33 miles treadmill
60:00 minutes

I almost decided not to go to the gym as I overnapped, but I managed to haul ass to the gym and by the time I finished stretching and doing by abs, it was already 10pm.

The run was OKay, I slowly worked my way from 5.0mph to 5.5 mph by increasing my speed 0.1 mph every 5 minutes. This went on for 30 minutes. Afterwards, I slowed back down to 5.0 mph for 5 minutes, then 5.6 for another 5 minutes, 5.0 for another 5, then 5.7.

OK, I could have went on but the gym closed.

4.0 miles treadmill
47:12 minutes

Well, here I go again. I ran inside because I stayed late at work and it was already dark outside. wah. That's OK though, there's a row of treadmills that are a bit older so the cushioning is not a great as our newer treadmills. This feels a lot more like pounding the pavement outside. The only downside is that there is no heartbeat monitor. No big deal, beside, you should be able to determine for yourself if you are pushing yourself too hard.

The jog was fine, I pretty much kept it at 5mph.

I really did not feel any issues regarding my neck... I'll most likely feel it tomorrow when I weight training.

So yesterday (08/17) I was to go running, but I worked late and fell straight to bed. No biggie, I'll run today (08/18).

This morning at 5am I hurt my neck getting out of bed. It was painful (and scary) enough to warrant a call to 911 to have an ambulance take me to the hopsital. The doctors checked me out, gave me some pain kilers, and took a cat scan.

The ER doctor put my neck in one of those cervical braces (?) so neck movement is minimized. He also gave me a prescription of hydrocodone, a pain killer. I am to rest for a few days.

Guess I won't be jogging or exercising for a while.

5.0 miles treadmill
54:00 minutes

Humid again! I wasn't going to jog today... as I usually work my chest on Sundays. I find the gym least crowded on Sundays... which means I would not have to wait for a bench/barbell/dumbbell...

But for some reason I decided to jog after giving my pecs a good workout (haha!). Originally, I planned on only 3 miles but kept jogging once I reached that limit. I started out a 6.0 mph and kept that fast -- well, to me that's fast! -- clip for two miles. I then reduced my mph to 5.0 and slowly worked my way back up..

Good run, no pains. I did not feel particularly fatigued... which is good since I have not done much cardio since Monday (08/08).

There was no reoccurrence of the pains I experienced during Monday's run. Good.

6.5 miles treadmill
71:23 minutes

This humidity has got to stop! I really need to resume running outside. But in order for that to happen I also need to leave work at a decent hour (hahhahahaa).

So I ran again at the gym, started at 5mph and upped every five minutes 1/10 mph for the first 30 minutes. I then worked my way up to 6.1 mph by starting back at 5mph for the first 5 minutes, then 5.7 for the next five minutes, back down to 5mph for 5 minutes, up to 5.9 and so on until I reached 6.1 mph. I then stayed between 5.5mph and 6.0mph until I reach the 6.5 mile limit.

My right leg is hurting a bit. During the run, I felt a quick sharp pain along the back of my leg just behind my knee... hopefully this will not persist. I will let you know.

6.2 miles treadmill
72:05 minutes

Very humid outside, so again I ran indoors at my gym. The humidity however, seemed to have crept inside with me. Very slow jog today. While I wasn't pushing my run, I did take it easy because the gym felt hot and sticky.

Started at 5mph and incremented 1/10mph every ten minutes for each 1/2 hour. I eventually I worked my way up to 6mph towards the end. Again, no inclines. I think for my next run, I'll try to reach 6.5 miles. After that run, I will cut back to shorter jaunts to give my legs some rest.

6.0 miles treadmill
69:00 minutes

Started at 5mph and incremented 1/10mph every five minutes for each 1/2 hour. I eventually I worked my way up to 6mph towards the end. No inclines. The run felt good... I am comfortable with my slow pace because I know I can achieve greater distances.

I may need to get a memory card for my mp3 player so I can play more than 1' 20 minutes worth of music.
