7,996 miles - Motoring ID

OK, I mentioned this in my last entry, so...

In an attempt to capitalize on the MINI-madness that has consumed yours truly and oh-so-many others throughout our great land, MINIUSA came up with a way for MINI owners to identify one another on the road. It is called the Motoring ID and this is how it works:

Each MINI owner creates a unique ID which consists up of a word/abbreviation -- chosen from a pre-set list -- suffixed with 3-digits. For example; zoom999, whee012, burn333. Once selected, the ID is registered in the corporate site -- miniusa.com -- and vinyl lettering is affixed onto the vehicle (you provide the vinyl lettering. 2" Helvetica).

That's it! Simply motor on! When you spot a MINI during your travels, check to see if it has a motoring ID. If so, you can go to miniusa.com to contact the owner or at the very least, check out his/her information online!

MINIUSA unveiled the Motoring ID back in mid-January, so it is still too early to gauge its success. The ID is definitely getting talked-up in all the MINI boards I frequent and a majority of forum readers have already selected their IDs. Whether or not they will actually affix the ID to their MINIs is another story... time will tell.

but I'll be lookin'! Oh, and my ID? It is whoa000... 'whoa' because I like the sound of it. 000 for no apparent reason.

I'll be on the lookout for these tags on the various MINIs that I see (although since there's a big snow coming here in Greater Boston, I'm sure they're in hiding.)

Sweet... give me the IDs if you spot any and I'll look them up online.
