12,700 miles - Jim Thorpe

So Saturday (06/03) morning I drove out to Hamburg PA to once again join the MINIacs over at NEMINI for their annual Jim Thorpe Run. The day started out pretty bad weather-wise and I seriously considered cancelling. I sooo wanted to do the run topless. But alas, the need to drive my MINI hard was too much... and so I found myself packin' an umbrella and headin' off to PA despite the rain. Awaiting us when we arrived -- I caravaned to Hamburg, PA with fellow MINIac Mighty-MINI -- were ~35 other MINIs. Lots of familar faces (ok OK! On the next run I participate in, I swear I will take pics of people).

The Jim Thorpe Run was billed as an all day event with a BBQ lunch, sight-seeing and a drive-in movie. The roads covered were similar to the Rt. 125 Romp through PA... fast, twisty and super-fun! The BBQ was held over at Jerseygirl's parent's house. Here tradish outdoor food was the order; burgers, dogs, chicken, chips... soda. The sightseeing centered around Jim Thorpe, a small town nestled at the foot of the mountains lining eastern PA. We initially stopped at an overlook peering down to the valley and Jim Thorpe. Then off to the town itself to do some really light meandering... Ok, we just made a beeline to the nearest Irish Pub. As for the drive-in? It was cancelled due to inclement weather. Boohoo...

The run was definitely not the Dragon, but as already mentioned, it was fun. However I must admit I was alittle disappointed... I think the Dragon has ruined all other roads for me... let's hope not! And to check, I'm just gonna have to keep goin' on run after run after run to see! And I think I'll continue on with this...

T - 9 days (muwahhhahaaha)

Motor on everybody!

Okay, pics from the run are here. Additional links about Jim Thorpe are there too... so you better click the link!
